Sushil Modi named as BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha by-polls in Bihar

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-election in the state.

The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant after the demise of LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan.

Sushil Modi, who remained Bihar Deputy CM for 15 years, was denied the post this time after NDA romped home with clear majority in the 243-member Assembly.

The BJP replaced Sushil Modi, with two new faces as deputy CMs— Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi.

The Election Commission has fixed December 14 for the Bihar by-poll and counting of votes.
