T20 World Cup: FIR registered against Kashmir students of GMC & SKIMS who celebrated India’s loss to Pakistan

Students in Kashmir’s Srinagar colleges who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in T20 World Cup on Sunday are booked under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act)

J&K: FIR has been registered against a few GMC & SKIMS medical students for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in ICC T20 World Cup match, said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

According to reports, students in Kashmir’s Srinagar colleges who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India in T20 World Cup have been booked under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

After two separate cases was reported, two separate cases have been registered. One incident took place at the hostel of SKIMS hospital in Soura and another at the hostel in Government Medical College (GMC) in Karan Nagar, Srinagar.

This comes after videos of students celebrating Pakistan’s victory went viral on social media. The video shows students in these colleges celebrating, cheering and dancing joyfully.

Also, in another video, students can be seen singing Pakistan national anthem after India’s loss.

On the other hand, PDP (People’s Democratic Party) chief Mehbooba Mufti questioned on why such anger against Kashmiris for celebrating Pak’s win?
