New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, known for his strict eating rituals, is taking only one meal a day during the month of Chaturmas.

“From having ice-creams and Churma, from inspiring anecdotes to lighter moments,” PM Modi also shared a video on his Twitter handle, of what happened at 7 LKM, where he hosted the Indian Olympic contingent.

Chaturmas is an auspicious period of four months in Hindu lunar calendar when people take vows and do fasting. Chaturmas or 4 months of Monsoon begins on ekadashi, 11th lunar day in the month of Ashadh and ends on ekadashi in the month of Kartik.

While interacting with gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, PM Modi offered him, his favourite dish – ‘Choorma’. The Olympian urged the Prime Minister to join them, to which PM Modi replied that he takes only one meal a day during Chaturmas.

PM Modi shares an interesting anecdote about Atal ji

PM Modi also shared an anecdote about former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during the interaction.
“Once Atal ji went to some place regarding party activity and had food with the family. There, he was offered Gulab Jaamun. Later, speaking to the media, Atal ji said that Gulab Jamun was delicious. This became a headline across the country. Since then, wherever Atal ji went, Gulab Jamuns were prepared. This reached to such an extent that an advisory was issued so that other varieties of sweets could also be served with meal,” PM Modi told medallists.
Hearing the anecdote about Atal ji, all players broke into laughter.
