Tamil Nadu Opinion Poll 2021: UPA looks set to dislodge AIADMK govt

Politics in Tamil Nadu has remained dominated by 2 parties – Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), both of which keep alternating the power between the two.

New Delhi: With electioneering reaching its crescendo, the high voltage campaign is being run by parties to sway public opinion. And, it’s showing impact on voters. Tamil Nadu is set to go to polls in single phase election commencing on April 6.

In the Times Now C Voter Opinion Poll 2021, the UPA looks set to oust the ruling AIADMK regime. DMK which had won 89 seats in 2016 elections is seen improving on its count. UPA (Cong + DMK + others) is seen gaining control of 177 seats while the ruling AIADMK & BJP coalition registering big losses from previous election. It’s number is seen dipping from 136 to 49 seats.

The Times Now C-voter Opinion Poll was conducted between 17 March, 2021 and 22nd March across 8,709 participants.

Other Opinion poll predicts photo finish

However, days ago, another Opinion polls suggested a photo finish in the state.

An opinion poll by Democracy Network and Ungal Kural predicted a photo-finish between the ruling AIADMK and opposition DMK in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, Economic Times has reported.

The opinion poll predicts that AIADMK has an edge over DMK due to a strong showing in the Kongu region and incremental gains due to its allies in Thondai.

As per the opinion poll, AIADMK will win 122 seats, closely followed by the DMK at 111 seats. The T T V Dhinakaran led AMMK could win a solitary seat.

AIADMK’s strongest performance is predicted in the Kongu Nadu region where it may win 40 out of 68 seats – with the DMK bagging the remaining 28. Similarly in Thondai it may win 34 seats to DMK’s 24.
