Tapan Kumar Deka appointed new IB Chief; RAW Chief Samant Kumar Goel gets 1 year extension 

Tapan Kumar Deka has been appointed as a new Chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) while Raw Chief Samant Kumar Goel has been given an extension of one year in his service. 

New Delhi: Tapan Kumar Deka has been appointed as a new Chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) while Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Chief Samant Kumar Goel, A 1984 batch Punjab cadre IPS officer, has been given an extension of one year in his service on Friday.

Before Deka, the office was in hands of Arvind Kumar. The term length for the post of IB chief is three years while the RAW chief enjoys a fixed tenure of two years at the post.

Besides the above-mentioned development, the government also appointed new Niti Aayog CEO to Parameswaran Iyer. Iyer replaced current CEO of the Aayog Amitabh Kant.
A 1980-batch IAS officer from the Kerala Cadre, Kant was appointed as the CEO of the government’s think tank in 2016, for a two-year term.

During his tenure, the 1980-batch IAS officer played a key driver of the “Make in India”, Start-up India, “Incredible India” and “God’s Own Country” initiatives.
