New Delhi: Mahua Moitra, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Trinamool Congress (TMC) was expelled from the Lok Sabha on Friday. The expulsion of TMC MP comes on back of Parliamentary Ethics panel submitting its report in the cash for query scam and its recommendation for exemplary action against the ‘erring’ MP.

The Ethics Committee submitted its report today to Lok Sabha and recommendation expulsion of Mahua Moitra in the cash-for-query matter, over her “highly objectionable, unethical, heinous and criminal conduct.”

The sacked TMC MP, soon after getting punished for the unethical conduct, spoke to media and rejected all the charges. She accused the Parliamentary panel of arbitrary justice as the businessmen in question was not summoned or questioned by the panel.

While Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced her expulsion, the TMC lawmaker was not allowed to speak during the heated debate.

The motion for Mahua’s removal was moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and adopted by a voice vote.

Opposition MPs also showed solidarity with TMC MP and staged a walkout after her expulsion. They accused the Centre of ‘vendetta politics’.

Later, Moitra speaking to media, slammed the Modi government for targeting her and said that this would mean the ‘beginning of their end’.
