TN launches post Covid-19 follow up clinic for patients who have recovered from virus

The post-Covid follow up clinic was launched by the state health minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar at the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai. He claimed that it is the first of its kind in the country.

New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu Health Department has launched the Post-Covid-19 Follow Up Clinic in Chennai. It is exclusively for those who recovered from the viral infection and later suffer from other diseases.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid infections in the state has crossed 3,55,000 as about 5800 people tested positive yesterday. Nearly 6400 others recovered from the infection taking the total number of recoveries to over 2,96,000.

The post-Covid follow up clinic was launched by the state health minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar at the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital in Chennai. He claimed that it is the first of its kind in the country.

Those who were admitted in the ICU or with comorbid conditions or those who faced breathing difficulty during the Covid-19 treatment from across the state can register themselves for availing its services. They can undergo various diagnostic tests and medical investigation by specialist doctors after 28-days of their discharge.

It is being widely reported that some of those who were treated for the pandemic complain about diseases in heart, renal or other vital organs and report stress or fatigue, even long afterwards. It is being planned to establish similar Covid follow up clinics, next in Madurai and later in all major medical college hospitals in the state.
