New Delhi: Any developments in the case of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya and Twitter trends go hand-in-hand since ever. The exclusive progress in the matter comes as the apex court awarded the latter four months jail term along with a fine.
The punishment was given as the liquor baron was found guilty of contempt of court for keeping information from the top court in 2017.
However, the negligible amount of penality on Mallya attracted Netizen’s attention, and #Rs2000 began trending on the microblogging site Twitter within minutes.
As twitteratis commenced hilarious meme fest on the site, various users took a dig at the old judicial system as well for not being strict against offenders.
Check out top reactions here:
A user named John Rambo sarcastically wrote, “Too heavy fine for poor #VijayMallya… wah historic judgement”. Another wrote, “Mallya must have asked courts for some more time as he has to apply for a loan of Rs 2000 and no bank should be ready to pay such a huge amount looking at his previous financial frauds”.
