Toxic foam floats on Yamuna river ahead of Chhath Puja, BJP tears into Kejriwal govt for ‘befooling’ public

BJP MP from North-East Manoj Tiwari accused Delhi government of spraying poisonous chemical in the river to remove toxic foam & froth and thus putting the lives of Chhath Puja vratis at risk.

New Delhi: Just a day ahead of Chhath Puja, the Yamuna river in the national capital was seen flooded with toxic foam and high amount of pollutants.

The hazardous accumulation of toxic foam in the rives raises big concerns about people’s safety & hygiene as lakhs of devotees are set to take dip in the holy Yamuna during Chhath festival.

Delhi BJP MPs Manoj Tiwari and Parvesh Sahib Singh along with Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday took a personal tour of the polluted river and brought to fore the glaring lapses & negligence of Kejriwal administration in cleaning up the river.

Launching a direct attack at Delhi Chief Minister, BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh said that Kejriwal had made tall promises to the people but in 8 years of AAP govt, he has only befooled the public and bluffed his way to power.

“Delhi government says that Rs 1,200 crore has been spent on cleanliness of river. It’s all fake, where has the money gone? Its supporters have pocketed the entire money, no progress has happened,” said the lawmaker.

BJP MP from North-East Manoj Tiwari accused the Delhi government of spraying poisonous chemical in the river to remove toxic foam & froth.

“We are very surprised to see that a poisonous chemical is being sprinkled in the river to make toxic foam vanish. This will severely impair the health of Chhath Puja vratis,” he said.

Parvesh Singh claimed that Kejriwal’s visit to Ghaziapur landfill site ahead of Chhath festival was a clear attempt to escape onus for its shortcomings and divert attention.

Arvind Kejriwal today visited the Ghazipur landfill site and declared that next elections will be fought on garbage issue. He also promised to clean the city in 5 years, if AAP is voted to power in the civic body elections.

He demanded answers from CM Kejriwal over latter’s earlier boasts that he would take bath in the river and also challenged him to take bath in the polluted river.
