Train got cancelled due to rains, Railways ferries student to destination via car; act earns praise

New Delhi: The Indian Railways often draws limelight for the wrong reasons but this act is earning it applause, from all quarters.

An aerospace engineering student from IIT Madras got stuck at Ekta Nagar railway station in Gujarat as his train got cancelled due to rains. As the train journey became almost impossible due to heavy downpour, the Railways stepped in to the rescue of stranded engineering student and made adequate arrangements for his travel.

The Railway officials reached out to Satyam Gadhvi, booked a car ride for him from Ekta Nagar railway station to Vadodara junction so that he could further travel to final destination. The car ride took two hours and was financed by the Railway officials. From Vadodara, he was to fly to his final destination i.e. Chennai.

Heavy to very heavy rains in last few days has brought life to a standstill in Gujarat. Many homes & commercial spaces got flooded in the heavy downpour in last 2-3 days.

Satyam Gadhvi had to bear the brunt of this torrential rains. After the rains, the railway tracks between Ekta Nagar & Vadodora got washed out, thus forcing the Railways to cancel the train.

As the student got stuck, he approached the Railway officials, who were quick & forthcoming in extending all assistance to him. The railway officials booked a car exclusively for him to Vadodara junction.

The engineering student was all praise for the prompt help from Railways.

“The train that I booked was supposed to depart from Ekta Nagar but as the tracks were washed out because of the rains, the train was cancelled at the last moment. But because of the very supportive staff of Ekta Nagar, they hired a car for me. This shows how much importance they are giving to each and every passenger of railways,” Gadhvi said.

Many netiznes showered effusive praise on the Railways as well as Railway Ministry for such timely act & going beyond duty to help the lonely passenger.
