Tripura tackles Covid-19: CM Biplab Deb leads by example, offers ginger-water to mother (VIDEO)

New Delhi: Tripura observed a complete lockdown for 24 hours on Sunday, to break the cycle of Coronavirus and prevent its further spread in the state.

Tripura CM Biplab Deb took the lead in following the lockdown guidelines by staying inside home and making the most of this time to serve the elderly.

The state was declared ‘Corona free’ long time back but fresh outbreak of Covid-19 cases prompted the authorities to take required action.

CM prepares ginger-water for mother

The Chief Minister, on Sunday morning, tweeted a video offering ginger-water to his mother and also appealed other residents to look after the elders in their homes. The ginger water is known to increase body’s immunity.

He wrote on social media, “I gave ginger-water to my mother this morning in accordance with the appeal I made to everyone earlier. I hope you have taken care of your mother, father and the elderly in your houses like this. If you haven’t, offer this drink to them. It will help in boosting their immunity to prevent diseases and protect themselves from coronavirus. Stay safe and take care of the elderly in your house. And share photos and videos of this great work on social media.”

Biplab’s appeal saw many admirers, with many netizens offering the ‘immunity booster’ to the elderly and posting the pic/video on Twitter.

Few days before, Tripura CM had launched a plan to provide lemon and pineapple juice to people across 25 urban local bodies of the state, using Self Help Groups.

24 hour lockdown on lines of ‘Janata curfew’

Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb had recently announced that state will observe 24 hour lockdown on July 5 (Sunday), apparently inspired by “Janata curfew”.

“The way we all stayed at home on March 22 during the Janata curfew announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the same way we would stay at home from 5 am on Sunday to next day 5 am,” Mr Deb wrote on Facebook..

During the lockdown, all establishments including markets, shops were closed except emergency services like ambulance, fire services & hospitals.
