Maha Navami: UP CM Yogi Adityanath performs ‘Kanya Pujan’ (Video)

Yogi Adityanath performs ‘Kanya Pujan: As per Hindu mythology, worshipping girls as manifestation of goddess Durga brings prosperity, luxury and power and wisdom to one’s life.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday performed “Kanya Pujan” at Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur. He washed the feet of kanyas before feeding them.

The CM also gave gifts to the kanyas.

As per Hindu mythology, worshipping girls as manifestation of goddess Durga brings prosperity, luxury and power and wisdom to one’s life.

As part of the ritual, girls were made to stand in a metallic plate as Yogi washed their feet, applied tilak on their forehead and performed their ‘Aarti’ amid chanting of mantras.

He also extended wishes to people on the occasion of Maha Navami. Taking to twitter, Yogi  said, ”May all the devotees get the blessings of Ashta Siddhi,

With the blessings of Mother, the spirit of affection, equality, fraternity and harmony should spread in the world. May the grace of mother be forever. This is all I pray for. Jai Mata Siddhidatri!”
