New Delhi: Aiming to boost the dairy sector in the state, a potential source of employment and revenue generation, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to open dairy units through the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on Saturday, Yogi Adityanath said that strengthening the dairy sector of the state is one of the top priorities of our government today. “Dairy units can be opened on the PPP model in the state. Make a planned effort to engage more and more youth in the dairy sector.” the CM maintained.

The government will extend all cooperation to companies keen to work in the dairy sector here under the public-private-partnership model, he added.

The step of government will also help farmers get into the dairy business along with crop cultivation. The opening of new dairy units will also generate revenue for the government.

Stressing the need for comprehensive reforms in the functioning of the Animal Husbandry Department, the CM further said that government officers of the department should be sent to the districts as nodal officers. They must check the arrangements in the cow shelters, and get the ‘bhoosa’ banks or fodder banks built across districts.

Strictest action should be taken against those involved in heinous crimes like cow smuggling, he added.

As per the vision of the government, the dairy sector, animal husbandry, white revolution can play a massive role in changing the condition of the farmers for the better. The sector also helps to reduce rural poverty and inequality and ensures nutrition to poor rural households.

Animal husbandry can become a huge source of additional income for the small farmers of the state and is a great way of economic empowerment of women, to increase their participation in entrepreneurship.
