New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday apprehended two Muslim brothers as they tried to hatch a communal conspiracy with an aim of stocking communal tension. The youths were arrested as they were vandalizing the holy ‘Jalal Shah Mazaar’ in Bijnor district.

The UP Police said that the youths had adorned their head in saffron robes and they went on ransacking of the mazaar, with an intention to instigate communal tension amid the ongoing Kanwar Yatra.

Speaking to media, ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, “a big communal conspiracy was prevented on July 24. In the Sherkot Police Station, two people were ransacking Jalal Shah Mazar and burning curtains and ‘chadars’ there.”

“When the police reached there, it found that a similar incident happened at Bhure Shah mazaar & Qutub Shah Mazaar also. Police have arrested 2 brothers – Kamal & Aadil.

He further informed that these youth were relatives and they tied a saffron coloured cloth on their heads before executing their vicious plan. ADG law & order further said that the whole episode was aimed at vitiating the atmosphere when Kanwar Yatra is in progress.

Meanwhile, the UP Police has also deployed special officers on Kanwar Yatra route and also deployed helicopters for close surveillance.

“This whole matter shows attempts to soil the atmosphere amid the ‘Kanwar Yatra’. Continuous social media monitoring also underway,” ADG law & order added.
