Uttar Pradesh: Yogi govt renames Faizabad railway junction as Ayodhya Cantt

Not just Ayodhya, several proposals are lying before Yogi government for renaming the city as per their historical significance.

Days ago, the Aligarh district panchayat sent a proposal to Uttar Pradesh government, seeking to change the name of city from Aligarh to ‘Harigarh’.

New Delhi: In a significant development ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, the Yogi government has decided to rename Faizabad railway station as Ayodhya Cantt.

The move is seen as a step for sending a message to the state residents about Yogi govt’s thrust and focus and also an explicit attempt to restore the Hindu legacy. Earlier, the Faizabad city was rechristened as Ayodhya.

An official notification will soon be issued in this regard.

Not just this, several proposals have also been put up before the state government for changing name of cities.

Yogi government’s decision to rename Faizabad railway station as Ayodhya Cantt comes, days after Owaisi-led AIMIM put up posters & placards across the city, terming Ayodhya as Faizabad. After controversy broke out, the UP police brought down the ‘motivated’ posters.

A number of seers of the state had raised objections to Owaisi’s deliberate pandering to a certain community ahead of the assembly elections in the state.

Days ago, the Aligarh district panchayat sent a proposal to Uttar Pradesh government, seeking to change the name of city from Aligarh to ‘Harigarh’.

Another proposal to change the name of Firozabad district to Chandra Nagar has also been doing the rounds.

Soon after taking over, Yogi govt had changed the name of Mughalsarai railway junction as Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay junction and Allahabad to Prayagraj.
