Uttarakhand CM inaugurates state’s 1st ever Nayar Valley Adventure Sports festival

Nayar Valley Adventure Sports festival will henceforth be an annual festival, aimed at attracting adventure tourists in the state. This year, the festival is being organised from Nov 19 – Nov 22.

New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated first ever Nayar Valley Adventure Sports festival and National Paragliding Accuracy Competition in Pauri on Thursday.

Uttarkahand CM also announced that a training centre for paragliding will soon be opened in Nayar valley. He directed the officials to scout for a suitable land for the paragliding training centre.

On the first day of festival, different pilots will be exhibiting an aero show. National paragliding competition, mountain trail bike racing from Lansdowne to Pauri are also being organised. Many other competitions will take place over next 2 days.

The prize distribution ceremony in respective sports will be held on the closing day i.e. November 22. Some cultural programs will also be organised in the closing ceremony.

The adventure sports have been a big draw in the very first year, with many enthusiasts participating in the competition. Close to about 100 people have registered themselves for national paragliding competition while about 30 people got themselves registered for mountain trail biking.

Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is well-endowed with natural resources and if harnessed well, it can be a money-spinning business in the state. He said that this sector offers immense opportunity and huge employment prospects.

“State govt is focussed on giving a facelift to rural areas, health services, film division and tourism. To lure tourists, theme-based destinations are being developed,” said CM Rawat.

Promoting entrepreneurship in Uttarakhand

CM Trivendra Rawat said that state government is committed to empower citizens as entrepreneurs. Under Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana, more than 150 projects have been initiated. Farmers are being given interest free loan upto 3 lakh while women self-help groups can avail interest free loan upto 5 lakh.

Senior administration officials have been deputed to visit villages and blocks, take first-hand account of issues and address them expeditiously.
