Uttarkhand Yamunotri highway: Over 10,000 people stranded due to safety wall collapse 

Owing to a security wall collapse in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district, around 10,000 people got stuck on the Yamunotri highway leading to the Yamunotri temple.

New Delhi: Owing to a security wall collapse in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district, around 10,000 people got stuck on the Yamunotri highway leading to the Yamunotri temple.

According to the media reports, it may take up to 3 days to re-open the road. The traffic disruption has also created a lot of problems for the people, especially for those who belong to faraway places.

Reportedly, as many as 24 buses and 15 mini busses full of pilgrims were stopped. The passengers were sent to the nearby ashram and the Sainchatti guest house.

The district administration has rushed to the spot to evacuate the passengers from some of the smaller vehicles.

On the incident, Rajesh Pant, Executive Engineer, National Highway Authority of India said efforts are going on in full swing to re-open the road.

So far, there are no reports of causality.
