Vincent Xavier- who waved Indian Flag at US Capitol Protest, an alleged supporter of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor

Xavier had allegedly attended the protest at US Capitol, the seat of the United States Congress.

New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, the man who waved the Indian national flag at the pro-Trump protest at the United States Capitol hill has allegedly been identified as Vincent Xavier, an alleged supporter of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

The identity of Xavier was shared on Twitter by BJP MP Varun Gandhi, who alleged that Xavier was a “dear friend” of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

“Dear Shashi Tharoor now that we know that this lunatic was such a dear friend of yours, one can only hope that you and your colleagues were not the silent,” Gandhi tweeted.

This comes after Twitter spat between BJP leader Varun Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor.

“Why is there an Indian flag there??? This is one fight we definitely don’t need to participate in,” Gandhi said in the tweet attached to the video.

Replying to Gandhi’s tweet, Tharoor, in an apparent jibe at pro-Modi, pro-BJP Indian-Americans, said that there were some Indians in US with the mentality of “Trumpist mob”, who enjoy using the flag as a weapon rather than a badge of pride, and denounce all who disagree with them as anti-nationals and traitors.

“That flag there is a warning to all of us,” Tharoor said.

It was after the identity of the Xavier was ascertained that Varun Gandhi lambasted Shashi Tharoor.

However, replying to Varun Gandhi’s allegation, Tharoor said he disapprove of it totally. “I denounce any attempt to bring my country’s beloved flag into a shameful American mob,” he said.
