New Delhi: Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav, displayed his indomitable spirit by engaging in a game of badminton just months after undergoing a kidney transplant surgery.
The 74-year-old politician, who is currently serving jail sentences in multiple fodder scam cases, is presently out on bail on medical grounds.
The viral video captured Lalu Yadav’s badminton prowess and was shared on social media by his son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav. It showcases Lalu Yadav’s radiant smile as he skillfully plays badminton, effortlessly hitting the shuttle over the net. The accompanying background music of the iconic Bollywood retro song ‘Dhal Gaya Din Ho Gayi Shaam’ adds to the overall charm of the video.
In the caption, Tejashwi Yadav eloquently expresses his father’s unwavering courage and determination in the face of his prolonged legal battle in corruption cases. He writes, “Didn’t learn to fear, didn’t learn to bow down. Has fought, will fight, will not be afraid of jail, and will win in the end.”

Lalu Yadav’s road to recovery has been filled with both challenges and hope. In December, he underwent a kidney transplant in Singapore to address acute kidney complications. His daughter, Rohini Acharya, selflessly stepped forward to donate a kidney for the transplant. The successful procedure took place on December 5, 2022.
The politician’s return to India in February this year after the surgery marked a significant milestone in his recovery journey. Despite his ongoing legal battles and time spent behind bars, Lalu Yadav’s positive attitude and determination continue to inspire those around him.
Recently, Lalu Yadav’s presence was felt at the Opposition meeting in Bengaluru, where he expressed confidence in the potential defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 general elections. Observing the BJP’s perceived weakening, Lalu Yadav voiced optimism that the party would ultimately meet its end.
