Watch: Man shares ordeal as Gurugram Rain destroys his BMW, and Mercedes cars, says, “Welcome to the metro city of India”

The user expressed his dissatisfaction with the Gurugram authorities, questioning the reason for paying taxes given the poor infrastructure and the officials’ lack of response.

New Delhi: In recent heavy rainfall on Friday, a Gurgaon resident reported significant damage to his luxury cars, highlighting ongoing issues with the city’s drainage system. Social media user @gajodharsinghcool shared a video showing his BMW M340i, valued at ₹83 lakh, partially submerged in floodwaters. The footage, filmed the day after the rain, reveals the severe conditions affecting several vehicles in the area.

In the same Instagram post, the user expressed his dissatisfaction with the Gurugram authorities, questioning the reason for paying taxes given the poor infrastructure and the officials’ lack of response. The user emphasized in the post, ” I pay my taxes, I pay bills only to wake up one day to witness my house, my BMW, Mercedes, i20 stranded and wrecked. No authorities or officials have shown up to fix the situation yet and the man I feel so broken right now. All I had was my car to have some fun in my life. It’s all gone. No crane would show up to even enter this deep of water, I tried that. All I can do right now is request you all to tag @dc.gurugram @nayabsainiofficial to prevent this disaster from causing any more harm to the people around”

Netizens expressed their opinions under the post, a user stated “@mygovindia the amount generated by the tax is not even fulfilling the basic necessities when it can do wonders if spent FOR THE PUBLIC”. A second reply said,” Raising taxes high day by day.. still they can’t build a good drainage system though..” Another added, “Concerned authorities should take steps to help you guys.”

Delhi-NCR Struggles with Intense Rainfall

The recent downpour, which brought moderate to heavy rain over three days, has intensified Gurugram’s persistent waterlogging issues, already problematic even with light rainfall. The city’s inadequate drainage system has once again been highlighted, particularly through troubling images of submerged luxury cars circulating on social media.

On Thursday, substantial rainfall affected Gurgaon and Delhi-NCR, leading to severe waterlogging and flooding across several areas. The flooding has been linked to insufficient desilting of drains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted continued rain through July 28 and issued an “orange” alert for the NCR. The morning showers on Friday resulted in significant waterlogging throughout Delhi and the surrounding regions.
