New Delhi: Villages in Madhya Pradesh are facing a serious water crisis. While some villages are opting for saving water by rationing, residents of Ghusiya village have to risk their lives to fetch some water every day.

In a video posted by news agency ANI, people living in Ghusiya village are seen walking a long distance just to arrive at a well that barely contains any water. In the video, a woman is seen risking her life, climbing up the well without any rope or harness for her safety.

Later, a man and a woman can also be seen filling up their utensils from a puddle where there is very little water left. In the video, villagers are seen using bowls for filling buckets suspended with ropes.

“Government employees and political leaders only come during elections. This time we have decided not to give votes until we have a proper water supply. We have to go down the well to collect water. There are 3 wells in the region and all have gone almost dry. Hand pumps are unable to fetch any water either”, one of the villagers said.

Residents of the villager are disappointed by the lack of initiative by the local government and political leaders for whom they voted.

It is a dire situation for people in Madhya Pradesh. 84 blocks out of 313 in the state are facing serious water shortage, with clean drinking water also inaccessible for lakhs of people in the state.
