West Bengal Elections: TMC & BJP in neck & neck fight, says Opinion poll; predicts this for Nandigram

New Delhi: The high-stakes battle for Bengal has the nation’s attention hooked to it. With days to go for 1st phase of polling, election campaign has reached a feverish pitch, with both TMC and BJP intensifying their high-octane campaign.

In the meanwhile, a TV channel has conducted an Opinion poll ahead of the elections in which it anticipates a close combat between the two main rivals – TMC and BJP. The Survey finds out that Mamata factor remains the biggest factor in Bengal elections, even ahead of BJP’s star campaigner Narendra Modi. Muslim voter base, Insider vs Outsider are some other issues, which the electorate is discussing at ground, found the survey.

According to TV9 Bharatvarsh, Mamata Banerjee continues to remain the most popular face for the chief ministership. Mamata has been two-time Chief Minister of Bengal and is the yet most favoured choice for CM for 3rd consecutive term. Other names which are favoured choice of public include Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh at No 2, Suvendu Adhikari (Mamata’s challenger) at No 3. A section of people also want to see Mithun Chakraborty and Sourav Ganguly as their Chief Minister.

The Opinion poll projects TMC to emerge as the biggest party in the state, garnering highest vote percentage of 43.1%. BJP is projected to gain 38.8% of votes while the Left Front-Congress is seen faring poorly in all regions of the state.

Nandigram is the hotly contested seat with incumbent CM taking on her former aide turned rival Suvendu Adhikari. TV9 opinion poll shows Mamata will defeat Suvendu with a considerable margin.
