West Bengal STF: 2 arrested over contacts with terror outfit

The Special Task Force (STF) officers of West Bengal arrested Samir Hossain Shaik from Diamond Harbour and Saddam Hossain Khan from Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area. 

New Delhi: In a major success to curb terrorism in India, Special Task Force (STF) officers of West Bengal arrested two men in connection with terror activities. One accused was nabbed from the state’s Diamond Harbour area while the second one was arrested from the Nirmal Nagar area in Mumbai.

The accused have been identified as Samir Hossain Shaikh and Saddam Hossain Khan. Reportedly, Samir lives in Diamond Harbour whereas Saddam belongs to Nirmal Nagar.

In a preliminary investigation, it has been found that the duo were in regular contacts with banned jihadi terrorist organisations. They have also been charged with involvement in highly radicalised covert activities.

In another crackdown on the same day, Jammu Kashmir police booked one person on the charges of working as an agent for a Pakistan-based intelligence agency. The person is named Abdul Wahid. Wahid is accused of transferring secret information from various Police establishments and security forces to Pakistan with the use of various social media platforms.
