New Delhi:  Doctors and scientists from across the globe have been lately cautioning people against a newly emerged enigmatic entity ‘Disease X’ which is being seen as a cause of the next potential Pendamic after the catastrophic Covid 19.

While the exact nature and behaviour of this newly found disease are still unknown, researchers and health experts are predicting that the mysterious disease has the capacity to infect humans and more than 50 million lives can be lost in case of its global outbreak.

As per the former chairman of the United Kingdom’s covid vaccine task force Dame Kate Bingham, the entity can be as much as 7 times more threatening and deadlier than the coronavirus and can claim millions of lives if not taken seriously.

Drawing similarities of the situation with the nightmarish 1929 flu pandemic, Kate in her interview with Daily Mail added, “Today, we could expect a similar death toll from one of the many viruses that already exist. Today, there are more viruses busily replicating and mutating than all the other life forms on our planet combined.”

Social Media Panics

Kate’s alarming words about the lurking threat of Disease X have triggered a wave of panic amongst the public with confused and concerned netizens resorting to various social media platforms to put forward their queries and questions about the animal virus.

Wondering if disease X is even real or not, one user wrote. “What if this ‘Disease x’ doesn’t even exist and is merely hypothetical so that they are prepared if a disease of this magnitude occurs?”

Another user said, “Disease X is basically a ‘what if’ situation. like how are you supposed to make a vaccine if the virus/pathogen doesn’t exist yet? unless the so-called virus/pathogen itself is manufactured.”

“We are now in the era of surprises. After the Covid-19 outbreak, we’ve managed it and we’re safe, even though millions are already dead. Therefore, the professionals are trying to prepare for any Disease X to avoid it from spreading widely as it could be infecting humans.”, commented a third user.

What is Disease X?

Disease X is a representative of the uncertainty circling the origin and identity of the potentially catastrophic pathogen which can cause the next deadly outbreak of pandemic on earth. In other words, Disease X can be conceived as a theoretic aliment having its origin from a virus that is capable of causing infection by breaching the barriers of species and transferring itself from one species like Dogs, cats, and monkeys to another species including humans.

As the World Health Organization and other medical agencies are so far unaware of the exact nature, behaviour and origin of this mysterious entity, they have named it “Disease X”. Back In 2018, it was also included in the list of 9 priority potential animal viruses that pose a potential threat to public health alongside COVID-19, Ebola and Nipah Virus.
