When is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Foundation Day?

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),  now ruling in the Centre, was founded as Bharatiya Jana Sangh by politician and activist Syama Prasad Mookherjee in 1951.

In 1977, Bharatiya Jana Sangh amalgamated with several parties and emerged as Janata Party.

After the National Executive Council of the Janata Party banned its members from being ‘dual members’ of the party in 1980, the RSS the former Jana Sangh members left the party to form a new party called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

It was then the BJP came into existence on April 6, 1980. Since then, BJP’s foundation day is celebrated every year on  April 6.

This year the BJP will be celebrating party’s 42nd Foundation Day.

PM Modi to address on BJP foundation day (April 6):

On the occasion of BJP foundation day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the party workers, Ministers, MPs, MLAs on April 6.

To celebrate this day, the BJP workers have planned several events which will take place for the entire week starting from April 6 and will conclude with the commemoration of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.

# Hoisting of  the party flag with the proper procedure will take place at 9 am.

# Procession filled with patriotic songs and slogans.

# PM Modi will be addressing to party workers at 9.45 am.

Also, the BJP workers are directed to organise various events on the block-level from April 6 to 14.
