New Delhi: Amritpal Singh, the radical preacher & chief of pro-Khalistan group ‘Waris Punjab De’ remains absconding despite 5 days of Punjab police hunt. As per latest reports, the pro-Khalistani leader is learnt to have given police a miss and escaped the Punjab border.
Today, a team of police also reached his residence to enquire about whereabouts and increased the purview of probe to his wife Kirandeep Kaur.
A police team along with a female police officer questioned Amritpal’s wife Kirandeep Kaur for her alleged complicity in illicit funding to the pro-Khalistani leader. Kirandeep was grilled by the police team at Jallupur Kheda village and was enquired about alleged foreign funding to Amritpal & his associates.
The radical preacher was almost nabbed by the cops but he managed to flee at the last moment. He abandoned his SUV car, rode a bike and fled away. He also reportedly took a stop at some gurudwara in Jalandhar, changed his turban and escaped police net, with support of his trusted associates.
Who is Kirandeep Kaur?
Kirandeep Kaur is the wife of fugitive Amritpal Singh. She is an NRI from United Kingdom and married him just a month ago, in February.
After marriage with Amritpal, Kirandeep Kaur moved to Punjab and now lives in the ancestral village – Jallupur Kheda. She is reportedly a native of Jalandhar.
Amritpal also boasted about his wife’s relocation from UK to Jalandhar and said that it was a message to the youth to identify their roots & return to homeland rather than opting for foreign nations.
What’s under police probe?
Punjab police is trying to establishing the money trail and find source of foreign funding to Amritpal & his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’ as alleged by many.
Reports suggest that the pro-Khalistani leader received an amount to the tune of Rs 35 crore for fanning anti-India sentiments.
Cops are scanning the bank accounts of Amritpal, his wife & father to find & understand the funding mechanism.
Amritpal’s alleged links with Pak’s ISI is also under probe as many claim that he was propagating anti-India sentiment at the behest of Pakistani agency.
