Meet Lt Chetana Sharma, who will steer Made in India Akash missile system at R-Day parade

New Delhi: As nation celebrates its 74th Republic Day, many women officers of the Indian Armed Forces will be seen leading their respective contingents in the annual parade at the capital’s Kartavyapath.

The ‘Nari Shakti’ will be on display in this year’s R-day parade, as couple of women officers are all set to display their military prowess.

Among the most prominent ones, Lieutenant Chetana Sharma and Lieutenant Dimple Bhati are the two young & brave women officers who will be at helm of their unit while their contingent walks past through the Kartyapath.

Lieutenant Chetana Sharma will lead the made-in-India Akash surface-to-air missile system at the parade. As she leads the homegrown missile system, with eminent guests in attendance, she will not make her family but the whole country swell with pride.

Sharma says that she always dreamt of taking part in the Republic Day parade and this year, her dream is coming true. She says that she watched the parade on TV, every year.

The Akash surface-to-air missile system is a part of Indian Army weapon contingent, that will march past the Kartavaya Path on Jan 26.

Who is Lieutenant Chetana Sharma?

Lieutenant Chetana Sharma hais from Rajasthan’s Khatu Shyam village and she entered the Armed Forces through CDS examinations.

The woman officers serves the Army Air Defence regiment unit, which protects India’s air space from enemy aircraft and drones.

She completed her graduation from NIT, Bhopal and qualified for the armed forces after clearing the CDS exam, though in sixth attempt.

Chetana Sharma’s 1st reaction on leading contingent?

Lieutenant Sharma is quite elated & ecstatic on being chosen as the ‘very few’ female officers to take lead at R-day parade. She says that she was always enamoured & inspired by the grandeur & magnificence of the Republic Day parade.

“Now that I am part of the ceremony, there can’t be more content & happy moment for me,” she said.

She said that it took her 6 attempts to enter the Armed Forces and this achievement is coming her way after lot of hard work.
