Ritu Phogat is the third daughter of Former Wrestler Mahavir Phogat. She started her training when she was 8 years old under her father’s guidance. Her sisters Geeta Phogat, Babita Kumari and Vinesh Phogat are all Gold Medalists in the common wealth games. Ritu got married to Sachin Chhikara who is a lawyer by profession.

Ritu marked her success in wrestling by 2017 and by the end of 2019 she developed an interest in Mixed Martial Arts and started participating in competitions and won successfully. She said during an interview in 2019, “In MMA my goal is to become the first Indian World champion.

Ritu Phogat’s Wrestling Career 

She won the second title in the National World Championship in 2016 in October. Right after a month, she won the Gold Medal at the Common wealth wrestling championship in Singapore in the 48 kg category.

She became the most expensive female wrestler at the Pro Wrestling League winning Rs 36 Lakhs.

Ritu’s Martial Arts Career

In a bid to make her mixed martial debut, she signed up with One Championship in 2019. She made her debut against Nam Hee Kim in November 2019. Ritu successfully completed her Wrestling and Martial Arts journey with her strong gut and hard work.
