Who is Shahnawaz, suspected ISIS terrorist nabbed by Delhi Police?

New Delhi: In a major crackdown, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested suspected Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist Shahnawaz and 2 other terror suspects on Monday.

The arrest of NIA’s ‘most wanted’ comes as a major breakthrough in busting the terror network & breaking its back. Reports suggest that he was part of the terror module that was planning to carry terror attacks in North India, including the national capital.

Shahnawaz ranks high on the wanted list of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and carries a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his arrest.

Who is Shahnawaz & how he came under lens

Shahnawaz alias Shafi Uzzama reportedly fled to Delhi after his name cropped up in Pune terror investigations. He was nabbed from a Delhi hideout today.

Shahnawaz chose mining engineer as his profession but then got radicalized and turned his attention towards terror outfits. It is believed that he had been living in the National Capital Region after fleeing Pune.

He is reportedly linked to terror module in Maharasthra’s Pune and with active support from this module, he had plans to engineer riots & violence in the country.

The Delhi cops also detained several other persons in the raid, assumed to be sleeper cells of Punj.

All these terror suspects are believed to have been radicalized to join the ISIS over Telegram App. They were reportedly linked to ISIS module in Maharashtra’s Pune.
