Who is Sunita Kejriwal? The wife of Arvind Kejriwal and Former IRS Officer

New Delhi: Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been in news ever since her husband was arrested by ED officials in the alleged Liquor Policy case. She addressed the media twice after the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal to send across his message to the people. Sunita Kejriwal said in her video message that, “I went to meet Arvind Kejriwal yesterday evening. He has diabetes, and his sugar levels are irregular, but his determination is strong,”

She also added that Arvind Kejriwal will reveal some important facts in front of the court related to the excise policy scam. However Delhi CM’s wife has been criticized by opposition many a times for coming in the front and speaking for her husband just like Rabri Devi, wife of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. She used to make regular announcements on behalf of her husband when he was inside jail.

Who is Sunita Kejriwal? 

Sunita has served in the Income tax Department for over 22 years as an Indian Revenue Services Officer in the 1994 batch. She met her husband Arvind Kejriwal during a training program in Bhopal. Arvind Kejriwal was the 1995 batch IRS ( Indian Revenue Services Officer) at that time. Sunita Kejriwal took Voluntary retirement in 2016.

She served as the Income Tax Commissioner in the Income tax Appetite Tribunal in Delhi. According to sources, she holds a master’s degree in Zoology. Kejriwal’s wife has been supporting him during the India against Corruption movement for the launch of the Aam Admi party and in many election campaigns. Sunita Kejriwal took long leave from work to support her husband when he contested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. She stepped in to speak on behalf of her husband who is arrested and running the government from jail. Apart from Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also in jail in connection with the Excise Policy case.
