New Delhi: A new fungus infection has been reported in the country after cases of black fungus and white fungus were found across the country. Its the yellow fungus and patients suffering from it have symptoms like lethargy, low appetite or no appetite at all and weight loss.
First case of the yellow fungus infection has been reported from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports, this type of fungus is even more dangerous than the white and black fungus infections.
Symptoms
- Lethargy – lack of energy
- Weight loss
- Decreased appetite or no appetite at all
- Some severe symptoms are:
- sunken eyes
- pus formation and leakage
- slow healing of wounds
- malnutrition
- necrosis – sudden death of cells or tissues
- organ failure
Causes
The yellow fungus infection can be caused by a number of things like humidity to cold food but the primary cause is believed to be poor hygiene. Things like throwing away old food and proper disposal of faeces can prevent the fungus and infection from spreading or expanding. In a closed space humidity should not be more than 30-40% as high humid conditions promote the growth of fungus.
Yellow Fungus cure
As of now Amphotericin B injection and a broad spectrum antifungal medicine, are said to be the only available treatment for yellow fungus.
