Amid nationwide outrage, Yogi govt orders CBI probe into Hathras gangrape case

New Delhi: Amid mass outrage over Hathras horror, the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered CBI probe into the alleged gangrape and murder of the 19-year-old girl.

“CM Yogi Adityanth has handed the case to CBI to probe the entire Hathras incident,” UP CMO tweeted this evening.

Top level officials of Yogi government today visited the residence of Hathras victim to take stock of situation and also assess the progress of SIT probe.

Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi also visited the residence of Hathras victim today to meet the grieving family members.

The CBI probe comes just on back of Gandhis’ meet with the family of 19-year-old gangrape victim.

The state government had earlier ordered a Special Investigation Team probe into the case.

The government also gave directions to suspend SP, DSP, Inspector and some others officials based on the first report of SIT.

Victim’s brother had said earlier in the day that the family was not satisfied with the investigation.

The announcement of CBI probe is likely to blunt the attack of Opposition as it has been demanding independent probe into the entire incident and justice for the Hathras victim.
