India’s UPI going global

Apart from rupee, Indian digital payment technology UPI is finding big acceptance and was recently approved in countries like Thailand & Singapore. This means that the Indian workers living in those countries won’t need services of remittance agents to transfer money back home and will be able to directly transfer money back home using UPI.

The United Payments Interface (UPI) is an real-time payment system, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which allows fund transfer between accounts via mobile, bypassing other conventional modes. UPI facilities instant money transfer from person to person (P2P) and person to merchant (P2M) bank accounts.
