New Delhi: Torrential rains over past few days in Himachal Pradesh has triggered flash floods in many parts of the state, thereby creating widespread chaos & panic among locals & tourists.

More than 200 tourists are said to be stranded in the rain-ravaged state while life has to a grinding halt for the local residents.

Heavy rains in Shimla, Mandi & Kullu has led to significant loss to crops, residences & livestock while cloudburst incident in Solan & Hamirpur created havoc in many areas. Mandi-Kullu national highway was closed due to flash floods.

Mandi Deputy Commissioner taking note of it said that officials are working overtime to resolve the situation and soon, it will be open for public.

He also informed that a bus filled with students and some cars coming from Parashar had got stuck last night. An arrangement was put in place for overnight stay of the tourists.

It may be noted that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued flash flood warning on Sunday, on lines of previous weather warning for a week.

Reports suggest that the gushing flow of water in certain areas resulted in washing away of vehicles. Several parts of Kangra are facing deep water-logging issues, owing to incessant rains.

Notably, the IMD had issued weather warning for state for next 5 days.

“Heavy rainfall, thunderstorm & lightning are likely at isolated places over plains, and low and mid hills on June 25 & 26. Flash floods are likely to occur in the districts of Kangra, Mandi and Solan, Traffic congestion, poor visibility and disruption in electric supply”, It said in an official update.
