Heatstroke is the condition when body is exposed to high temperature for long and gets overheated, which can often cause exertion in the body

New Delhi: Different parts in India are witnessing temperatures above 49 degrees celsius. The situation is worsening due to heatwave, which is extreme hot weather conditions accompanied by high humidity.

Typically it is observed between March and June, and in some rare cases, can be extended till July. This adversely affects people’s health causing psychological stress and sometimes even leading to death.

IMD has recently advised people to not move out of their houses, especially during the peak hours, because during these hours sun can strike the head and affect one’s health directly.

Heat from the sun can also cause heat stroke, respiratory and cardiovascular disorders.

What causes heat stroke?

Heatstroke is the condition when the body is exposed to high temperature for long period and gets overheated. It can often cause exertion in the body. This condition occurs in summer season.

Another common problem is temperature change. Nowadays a person is spending half the time in AC and rest in the extreame heat as soon as they steps out. Under such circumstances, body cannot maintain balance between the temperature.

*Low or High Blood Pressure

*Dry skin

*Nausea and vomiting

*Unconsciousness

*Rapid breathing

*Rapid Heartrate

 

 

Tips to protect yourself from heat wave 

Avoid stepping outside in the peak hours. Until it is necessary, keep your body hydrated by having proper fluids.

  1. Get the person into shades, if outside
  2. Avoid travelling in the flaming sun
  3. Wear loose clothes instead of tight fitted clothes
  4. Apply sun scream and wear shades
  5. Take shower twice a day
  6. Infants and elderly people be special taken care off
  7. Avoid working out and opt for home workouts
  8. Try not to take beverages like tea, coffee, alcohol in excess
  9. Carry umbrella
  10. Don not eat outside food, high protein food. Instead take small frequent meals.
