New Delhi: The bond of a brother and sister is very special among other relations in the world. This is a lifelong connection with everlasting memories. To signify the meaning of the beautiful bond, Bhai Dooj 2022 is just around the corner. It is just like the Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan.

Bhai Dhooj is celebrated when the Dwitiya Tithi occurs. According to the Lunar calendar, people observe the Holi Bhai Dooj festival in the month of Phalguna’s Dwitiya Tithi or the second day, Krishna Paksha. Notably, the day of the festival depends on the ‘Holika Dahan day’. It might fall on the very next day or the second day after Rangwali Holi.

Notably, there is also another Bhai Dhooj which is celebrated in a year. It is celebrated in Kartika Mass following the two days of Deepavali.

Holi Bhai Dooj  2022 date and timing

As mentioned above, Holi Bhai Dooj is celebrated two days after Holi, depending on Holi Dahan’s day. In the year 2022, we will celebrate Holi Bhai Dooj on March 20 i.e Sunday.

The timing of Holi Bhai Dooj will start at 11:35 am on March 19 and end at 10:06 am on March 20.

Importance of Holi Bhai Dooj

As the day is special for sisters, they pray for the wellbeing and long life of their brothers on the delightful occasion. Moreover, sisters perform aarti and apply tilak or teeka on the forehead of their brothers.

As per the Hindu tradition, Goddess Yamuna often used to call her brother Lord Yama to visit. But, Lord Yama declined her invitation due to his busy life several times.

One day, he, however, call on her sister’s home. This made the Yamuna happy and she welcomed her brother Yama by putting teeka on his forehead. Furthermore, she cooked various delicacies for him.
