New Delhi: Convincing the kids to do things that they don’t want to do can be challenging at times. It’s important to know what motivates your child.
Many kids do their work without even asking or reminding. Most of the children have set their own goals while others require little push.
And when we think about motivation all that revolves in the mind are rewards. Do you know even rewards can have negative implications on children?
Today in order to get any task done from the kids we attract them by giving rewards as a result the child will not understand his/her responsibility. Even if a parent is giving rewards then there should be balance.
Here are the tips which will help you motivate your child:
1. Make short term goals: Making achievable goals is not a bad idea. Set daily targets and try completing them.
2. Reconsider Giving rewards: For example if you are telling your kids to do homework and you will give them chocolate in return. So your kids will completely be dependent on chocolates for completing homework.
3.Have meaningful Conversation: Some times a normal conversation is the solution of every problem. A kid can even confess what may be the reason he/she feels demotivated.
4.Embrace their imperfections: Every child is different in their own their way. Focus on their positive instead and neagtives and try to show them their positive sides as much as possible.
5.Express appreciation: Everytime a kid do something amazing work as a parent it’s your responsibility to acknowlege it and appreciate him/her. So that the child keep doing such works
