How to reduce bad cholesterol level in blood; Tips inside

The high cholesterol level causes fat deposits in the blood vessel which can lead to an increased risk of heart diseases.

New Delhi: Cholesterol appears to be an important part of the body. This waxy substance present in the blood helps in building healthy cells. However, the cholesterol present in our body should be within a certain limit. High cholesterol can have adverse effects on our bodies. The high cholesterol level causes fat deposits in the blood vessel which can lead to an increased risk of heart diseases. However, with a few lifestyle changes, bad cholesterol levels can be reduced.

Nutritionist Anjali Mukherjee keeps sharing health-related tips on her Instagram. On Sunday, she took to the social media to share the issue of bad cholesterol and jotted down a few tricks on how to reduce the levels. “Diet plays an important part in lowering your cholesterol. While it has important functions, too much cholesterol or cholesterol in the wrong places can become a point of concern,” wrote Anjali.

Vitamin E: Anjali suggested that the inclusion of Vitamin E in our diet can bring down the bad cholesterol level in our blood.

Calculate saturated fat consumed: When saturated fats are consumed in high amounts, they can cause adverse effects on our bodies. Anjali suggested when we are consuming saturated fats like ghee, red meat, and cheese we should be mindful of the amount.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids: Oils that contain polyunsaturated fatty acids are to be avoided. Oils including corn oil and sunflower seed oil should be reduced. Oils containing monounsaturated fatty acids such as olive oil, flaxseed oil, and canola oil should be consumed.

Carb intake: Carbohydrate intake should be reduced. Total and refined carb intake should be consumed in limited quantities to reduce the bad cholesterol level.

Soluble fibre: Foods such as oat bran and whole pulses containing soluble fibre should be incorporated into the diet.
