New Delhi: Being cute is an additional feature that is adored in a human being. However, it becomes chargeable when you book an airline ticket. At least, this was the case with a particular passenger. The passenger recently took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the price breakup of his ticket fare from IndiGo Airlines. He wanted to bring the internet’s attention to a certain component known as the “cute fee.”
A Twitter user by the name of Shantanu shared the price summary of his ticket fare. Besides, being charged for security and convenience, the user highlighted the “cute fee” portion. The user shared the post with a pinch of humour. Although he was aware that why the airline was charging him a “cute fee,” he played with words in his tweet. His tweet went viral within minutes of its share. He captioned his post, “I know I’m getting cuter with age but never thought @IndiGo6E would start charging me for it.”

For the unversed, CUTE fee refers to Common User Terminal Equipment. It is an amount charged for the use of metal detecting machines, escalators, and other equipment at the airport.
Netizens all went gaga over the tweet. While some tried to explain what the component was all about, some played along and left hilarious comments behind.

They call it “Common User Terminal Equipment” (CUTE) fees, which include charges for the use of metal detecting machines, escalators and other equipment in the airport. It’s also referred to as passenger handling fee. The charges vary from one airport to the other.
