Google Doodle honours Anne Frank on 75th Anniversary of ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’

New Delhi: Google today honoured Anne Frank on the 75th Anniversary of ‘The Diary Of Anne Frank’ with a video doodle depicting moments from her life in the book.

The doodles was created by Google Doodle art director Thoka Maer. The illustrator has talked about the sense of responsibility to preserve the memory of the Holocaust.

Who was Anne Frank ?

Anne Frank, was born to Otto and Edith Frank in Frankfurt, Germany on June 12, 1929. Anne’s family had moved to Amsterdam in Netherlands in 1934, after the Nazi Party headed by Adolf Hitler gained power in Germany.

It is believed that Anne had received a diary as a present when the persecution of the Jews was at peak.  It is said that she kept that diary with her since and kept writing about her family’s life in hiding.

She also wrote short stories, she had also started writing on a novel and copied passages from the books she read in her ‘Book of Beautiful Sentences.’

She was only 15 year old when she died in a Nazi concentration camp.

At a very tender age, her life had been completely upended by the Nazi hate against the Jew community.

After her death, her father Otto – the only surviving family member from the Holocaust returned to Amsterdam and found her diary.

It was only after his friends convinced him to publish the diary and in June 1947.

This diary later become an important document to give a clear understanding about miseries of Jews who bore the brunt of Nazi rule.

It is said that so far Anne’s diary has been translated into over 70 languages. Also, the diary became one of the world’s best-selling books.
