World Mental Health Day: Some expert tips to keep yourself mentally healthy

The original intent of the day was to promote mental health awareness and educate the public on important problems, hence there was no overarching theme.

Every year on October 10, we observe World Mental Health Day, which is a great chance to bring attention to and discussion of mental health concerns. This day is observed all around the world as a reminder of the value of paying attention to and caring for, one’s mental and emotional health.

History

World Mental Health Day was first designated in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health on October 10. Since its founding in London in 1948, the World Federation for Mental Health has worked tirelessly to alter public conceptions of mental disease via campaigning and education.

The original intent of the day was to promote mental health awareness and educate the public on important problems, hence there was no overarching theme.

A theme for the day was first adopted in 1994, with the aim of “Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services throughout the World,” reflecting the growing importance of the campaign.

Significance

The overarching goal of World Mental Health Day is to increase public understanding of mental health concerns and to stimulate action in its promotion.

On this day, individuals from all walks of life who are concerned about mental health may get together to discuss the progress that has been made and the steps that still need to be taken to ensure that everyone, everywhere has access to quality mental health services.

Theme: ‘Mental health is a universal human right.’

Tips To Get Rid of Mental Problems

If you want to enhance your happiness and health, all it takes is 30 minutes of exercise or walking every day.

Having more stamina and mental clarity all day long is possible with the help of a healthy diet and lots of water. Avoid drinking too much coffee or soft drinks with caffeine.

Maintain a regular sleep routine and give yourself plenty of time to rest. Avoid using your phone or computer in bed since the blue light they emit might make it difficult to sleep.

Ask for help if you need it and don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in; Speak for yourself.

Just learn to say “NO” and start doing the things that make you happy. Focus on what you did achieve rather than what you failed to complete at the end of the day.

Recognize the unproductive ideas or negative thoughts you’ve been having and try to change them.

Get in touch with people you know who can make you happy, both emotionally and practically.
