Here’s Why India needs strong Cyber Security laws

Cyber security is a very important issue for India, and it is necessary to have strong cyber security laws and regulations.

Cyber Security is an important issue for every country in the world. India has an increasing number of cyber security issues, and it is important that India be willing to take responsibility for it. Cyber attacks cost the country Rs. 1.25L crore each year, according to the recent economic times report on global cyber crime.

As per Kaspersky’s report(https://www.business-standard.com/article/technology/india-becomes-favourite-destination-for-cyber-criminals-amid-covid-19-121040501218_1.html), the number of cyber attacks in India, from February 2020 to March 2020, went from 1.3 million to 3.3 million. In July 2020, India reported its highest number of attacks of 4.5 million. Recently we have seen that RBI blocked MasterCard for being non-compliant with the direction of storage of Payment system data.

The threats from the internet are almost endless, and a cyber security policy is the most effective way to combat that.

Here’s how Cyber Attacks are affecting the common man:

1.We have seen instances of hacking and stealing information from different websites in India.

2.Fraudulent emails or phishing are being sent to the users of various websites, to make them click on a malicious link that can compromise their data.

3.Spamming is another threat faced by the users of the Internet, where the information about one’s address, bank details, and other personal information is leaked on the internet or in a text message.

4.Online shopping is a sensitive activity and has its own set of security issues, such as credit card details and financial information being leaked online.

Over the past several years, it has become easy to grow numb to statistics showing the amount of digital data being generated.

Here are few reasons that India needs cyber security:

1. Cyber attacks cost the country an enormous amount of money each year

This is one of the most important reasons for having cyber security. India has already lost a huge amount of money, and it is expected to be a lot higher in the future, if we do not have strong cyber security laws.

2. Cyber attacks are becoming more common

Cyber Attacks are becoming so common. It is very important for us to take the necessary steps for our cyber security.

3. Recent instances have shown that India’s digital security is extremely weak

The recent instances have proved that cyber security is weak, and it simply means if we do not act now this will continue to happen.

4. Cyber attacks can destabilize countries and make them vulnerable to enemy attacks, especially in war-torn areas.

Cyber attacks can destabilize areas that are already at war. Weak cyber security policies can cause serious issues, such as economic, political, and military losses.

5. Cyber education & awareness needs to be increased.

Cybersecurity issues can be prevented if proper education and awareness about cyber security are increased.

6. Cybersecurity policy should be taken seriously if the country wants to decrease cyber attacks, because attacks can cost lives, cost massive amounts of money, or destroy data and information in important areas, or even hurt the government itself in a way that has serious consequences.

Cyber security is a very important issue for India, and it is necessary to have strong cyber security laws and regulations. Cyber attacks can cost the country a lot of money, and that can be very harmful to our economy. If the country cannot deal with these issues, it will continue to hurt the economy, and it will be hard for them to recover. It is important for India’s cyber security laws and regulations to be taken seriously if they want to decrease cyber attacks.
