Shubman Gill roasted by Aakash Chopra for poor show in SA, fans dig up past of ‘worst batsman’ (WATCH)

Aakash Chopra, is often considered one of those players whose cricket career started after their retirement.

New Delhi: If you are one of the modern-day cricket fans, you will have definitely heard one voice, which is common across all tournaments in the Hindi commentary. i.e., Aakash Chopra.

Aakash Chopra is one of the most famous Hindi commentators of new age cricket, but at the same time, Aakash Chopra proves that being famous and being adored are two very different things.

Not that Aakash Chopra is bad at being a cricket expert, as the former cricketer possesses a deep knowledge of cricket, but sometimes he goes overboard while commentating. As a result, he often becomes the target of meme fest by the fans.

The main reason behind Chopra getting trolled is his batting stats, which doesn’t make sense whenever he tries to give advice to cricketers who have far better batting records.

Notably, in a recent video posted by him on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra is seen questioning Shubman Gill’s abilities while batting in the SENA countries. He also asked Shubman to act like a king and not just a prince (Shubman Gill’s nickname by fans).

In reply to Aakash Chopra’s comments, fans have dug up one of his old batting videos, which is now going viral on the internet, and in that video, the former Indian cricketer is looking as clueless as one can be while facing the Aussie pace attack.

Check out the video below:

In the video, Aakash Chopra can be seen batting against one of the cricket’s greatest, if not the greatest, bowler of all time, Glenn McGrath, and in the entire spell, he was not able to pick a single ball’s length correctly before getting dismissed LBW soon enough.

Aakash Chopra’s batting career

If you ever hear the way Aakash Chopra describes things, you will think that the man must have had a big, if not very successful, career, but unfortunately, none of them was true in Aakash Chopra’s case.

Aakash Chopra has featured in only ten test matches for the Indian national team, in which, with a below-par average of 23.00, he has only been able to score 437 runs.

Interestingly, Aakash Chopra has also featured in IPL for three seasons. In the inaugural season, he was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and stayed with them for two seasons (2008 and 2009). He was later picked by Rajasthan Royals in 2011.

Aakash Chopra played seven matches in IPL, while with a substandard average of 8.83, was only able to score 53 runs.

Post-retirement

Aakash Chopra announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2015, and switched to the job of a commentator.

Aakash Chopra signed up with Star Sports and remained with them until January 2023, when he left them to join the Viacom 18 networks and became the sound of the Jio cinema app and Sports 18 networks.
