“After the World Test Championship, maybe he will…”- Rohit Sharma’s former coach hints at Hitman’s retirement plans

Rohit Sharma’s childhood friend and former coach Dinesh Lad has revealed that Indian skipper might retire after the World Test Championship Final owing to his growing age.

New Delhi: In a recent interview, Rohit’s childhood friend and former coach Dinesh Lad has revealed that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma might retire after the World Test Championship Final owing to his growing age.

In a recent interview with Dainik Jagaran, Lad stated that-

No, look I am not saying that Rohit Sharma will announce his retirement after the World Test Championship, maybe he will. Because as his age is increasing, it seems that he may retire from Tests…

Earlier, Rohit had announced his retirement from the T20I after winning the World Cup in Barbados and is now only the captain in the ODIs and T20Is. Interestingly, Lad is hopeful that Rohit will continue as a player till the 2027 ODI World Cup.

According to Lad, Rohit looks to fulfil his destiny and win the ODI World Cup in 2027. The Indian team reached very close to fulfilling their dream of winning the ODI World Cup in 2023. Naturally, the Indian skipper will make one last effort to win the trophy before he retires from the game.

Can West Indies and Pakistan qualify for the WTC Final?

Although there have been massive improvements in the cricketing fortunes of subcontinent teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, two teams Pakistan and West Indies have been in particular going through a rough patch in red-ball cricket.

Pakistan are languishing towards the bottom of the points table as they are ninth with a PCT of 19.05. West Indies are tenth with a PCT of 18.52. The men in Green and the Calypso Kings are both going through a tumultuous time as they lack the consistency required in the red ball.

Pakistan in particular had a horrendous outing against Bangladesh while the Windies have started the rebuilding process of their lost cricketing heritage. So far, under the guidance of Darren Sammy, the white ball scene has improved a little for the West Indies. However, the Caribbeans still look vulnerable when it comes to red ball.
