New Delhi: India has cemented its position at the top of the World Test Championship table after a 2-0 resounding victory over Bangladesh. The first three days of the test match were marred by incessant rainfalls which halted the play. The Indian attack was led by a fearless seam and spin attack which bundled out the Bangladeshi attack twice in the innings. India’s position in the WTC improved courtesy of the win over Bangladesh. India remains top of the table with a PCT of 74.24. Australia is second with 62.50 while Sri Lanka is third with a PCT of 55.56.
Apart from the improvement in the WTC rankings, India also found an attacking top-order batsman in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal notched up half-centuries in both first and second innings. Meanwhile, Ashwin (3/50), Jadeja (3/34), and Bumrah (3/17) broke the back of the Bangladesh batting.
From Bangladesh’s side, Shadman Islam was the highest scorer in the second innings with a half-century score. On the other hand, Mominul scored a composed century in the first innings.
Precarious scenarios for Pakistan and West Indies!
Pakistan are languishing towards the bottom of the points table as they are ninth with a PCT of 19.05. West Indies are tenth with a PCT of 18.52. The men in Green and the Calypso Kings are both going through a tumultuous time as they lack the consistency required in the red ball.

Pakistan in particular had a horrendous outing against Bangladesh while the Windies have started the rebuilding process of their lost cricketing heritage. So far, under the guidance of Darren Sammy, the white ball scene has improved a little for the West Indies. However, the Caribbeans still look vulnerable when it comes to red ball.
