India vs Bangladesh 2024: Yashasvi Jaiswal on the verge of breaking this record that….

If Jaiswal manages to score 132 runs, the southpaw will overtake Ajinkya Rahane who scored 1159 runs in the WTC 2019-21 cycle.

New Delhi: India’s young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the verge of creating a unique record in the ongoing calendar of the World Test Championship. Jaiswal is expected to join the team as a specialist opener in the team and will be partnering with Rohit Sharma in the upcoming Bangladesh tour.

Currently, the Indian batsman has 1028 runs in the World Test Championship 2023-25 calendar. The left-hander is just 132 runs short of making a remarkable record in the WTC calendar. If the 22-year-old manages to score the required runs across the two Tests, he will become the Indian batter with the most number of runs in a single edition of the WTC.

If Jaiswal manages to score 132 runs, the southpaw will overtake Ajinkya Rahane who scored 1159 runs in the WTC 2019-21 cycle. Jaiswal’s total will be 1160 runs at the end of the 2 tests given that he successfully scores 132 runs in the WTC Calendar. Currently, Jaiswal is joint second in the WTC 2023-25 scoring charts, tied with England Ben Duckett on 1,028 runs.

Interestingly, the left-hander is currently tied with another English left-hand batsman Ben Duckett at 1028 runs. If stars align for Jaiswal, the left-hander can go past even Joe Root who leads the race with 1,398 runs. Jaiswal needs 371 runs to topple the English batsman.
