“Agar maut aani hai toh….”: Javed Miandad’s repugnant remarks on India not touring Pak for Asia Cup

“We believe that agar maut aani hai toh aani hai. Zindagi aur maut toh allah ke haath mein hai” (If you’re destined to die, you will die. Life and death is in the hands of the almighty, he said.

New Delhi: Amid the raging debate over Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI)’s refusal to send Team India to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup and Pakistan’s repeated insistence, former Pakistan cricket captain Javed Miandad has made a highly distasteful comment on the matter.

Asia Cup is scheduled to be held later this year in Pakistan, for which India raised security concerns and demanded the tournament be shifted out of the country. Though, the Asia Cup tournament is likely to continue in Pakistan, Team India is unlikely to play there & has opted for a neutral venue, outside the country.

Miandad, apparently upset over India’s redflag, made a shocking remark & said “Agar maut aani hai toh aani hai… toh aani hai.”

He said that India was just making an alibi of security concern to disrupt the tournament being hosted by Pakistan. He also stated that Men in Green had visited India last time & this time it was their chance to return the favour.

“Forget security. We believe that agar maut aani hai toh aani hai. Zindagi aur maut toh allah ke haath mein hai” (If you’re destined to die, you will die. Life and death is in the hands of the almighty). If they call us today, we will go. But they should return too. The thing is the last time we went, but they haven’t come here since. It’s their turn now,” Miandad said on the Nadir Ali podcast.

The BCCI & PCB’s statements didn’t do any good in resolving the tussle. Earlier, PCB threatened to pull out of the World Cup over India’s refusal to send Team to Pakistan but later sought to downplay its statement.
