Asia Cup 2022: Ab de Villiers congratulates Virat Kohli for his 100th T20I…WATCH

Virat is the first Indian and second player overall, after Ross Taylor, to play 100 international games across formats.

New Delhi: As Virat Kohli is set to play his 100th T20I, his Royal Challenger Bangalore teammate Ab de Villiers shared an emotional message for the batter. He also congratulated Virat for this accomplishment. Star Sports posted a video ahead of the India-Pakistan clash in which de Villiers can be seen sharing his wishes for his friend.

In the video, ABD can be heard saying, “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my very good friend Virat Kohli on becoming the first Indian cricket player to play 100 matches across all three formats.” Virat is the first Indian and second player overall, after Ross Taylor, to play 100 international games across formats. He has played 102 Tests and 262 ODIs and will play his 100th T20I against Pakistan.

ABD also said that ‘we’ are very proud of him for his achievement. ABD added, “We will be watching you.” These words of encouragement coming from someone so close must be helpful for Kohli, who is coming back to international cricket after a break.

Not just de Villiers, but some other South African players who have played with Kohli in the Indian Premier League also wished him ahead of the historic game. In video clips shared by Star Sports, Faf du Plessis and legendary bowler Dale Steyn congratulated Virat Kohli.

India and Pakistan will face each other in a high-octane clash on August 28 at 7:30 pm. With Rohit Sharma captaining the side, Virat Kohli will be playing an international game after missing the series against West Indies and Zimbabwe.
