Asia Cup 2023: India & Lanka faced 7 head-to-head finals, check who decimated whom

India and Sri Lanka will be squaring off against each other for a record ninth time in the Asia Cup finals.

New Delhi: On Sunday, September 17, when India and Sri Lanka will take the field against each other in the Asia Cup 2023, finals, they will be writing their names in history books, as this will be their record eighth meeting in the Asia Cup finals, since the beginning of the tournament in 1984.

India booked their birth in the finals after defeating the hosts Pakistan and the defending champions Sri Lanka, within the 24-hour span and finally took the revenge of getting knocked out of Asia Cup 2022, after losing out to the same two teams.

The defending Champion Sri Lanka’s journey to the finals, however, was a roller coaster ride. They defeated Bangladesh in their first Super 4 match but were forced to play a do-or-die clash against Pakistan after losing out to the men in blue in a close encounter. Sri Lanka finally booked their tickets to the finals after defeating Pakistan, by 2 wickets in a last-ball thriller on Thursday.

Now, both teams will be locking horns against each other for the crown of Asian supremacy, at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
