Asia Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan reserve day weather report, points table; check all the details

How does Asia Cup points table looks like halfway through the super 4 and will India vs Pakistan match be possible?

New Delhi: The India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash on Sunday, September 10, met the fate everyone expected. The rain-hit match was forced to be postponed to the reserve day on Monday, September 11.

After a disappointing display on Sunday, September 10, the weather reports of Colombo for Monday do not look promising enough for a clean contest either. According to the weather report of Colombo, there is a 90 per cent chance of rain again today.

As per the earlier reports, heavy thunderstorms were expected in Colombo throughout the week. But, a fully dry match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh a day prior, and also a clear sunny sky at the beginning of the India vs Pakistan match, made everyone hopeful of a full contest on Sunday.

However, the ideal situation didn’t continue for long as the rain god, after being calm for some time, finally decided to make his appearance felt at 24.1 over mark of the first inning.

The rain finally stopped at 19:00 Hrs, IST, and with the help of the diligent efforts by the grounds men the match was set to resume at 8:30 with 34 over a side game, but the second appearance of the rain god forced the umpires to push the game to the reserve day on Monday, September 11.

Earlier, Pakistani skipper Babbar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, he was soon made to regret his decision by Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubhman Gill (58), which gave India a fiery start. At the time of interruption, India was sitting comfortably at 147 for 2, with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul still in the middle.

Points table standings

The Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023 is almost halfway through its completion, and the races to the finals have started to intensify.

Pakistan, who won their first match by a huge margin, is still at the top with 2 points and is looking to add 2 more today against India. The hosts, however, will be confident of their chances to reach the finals with a healthy net run rate in hand.

The defending Champions Sri Lanka, with the help of their bowlers, managed to escape with a victory against Bangladesh by 21 runs, and sits at second with 2 points also. The defending Champions, however, still have a long way to go as they still have to face the tournament favourites India and Pakistan on September 12 and 14, respectively.
